Tomorrow is the start of the summer term but it is not the usual way we begin the term.  I do hope that you, your children and all of your family are staying safe and well.

As you know, the government announced last Thursday that we will remain in lockdown for a further 3 weeks.  Although the announcement from the government will at least give some short-term relief from speculation, the discussion is bound to begin again as we approach the next review point.   Until we know what the government has in mind and until we know what the science will say, it is unhelpful to pre-empt when we may return.  Therefore, here at Rushy we will continue to do what we have been doing for the past few weeks to support you.  We will continue to stay open for some vulnerable children and children of key workers.  We will also continue to provide home learning for your children which can be accessed on the blogs.  The next set of home learning will be on the blogs today.

However, we are going to make some changes to how we support you and your children.

  1. Class teachers are going to ring each of you once a fortnight to see how the children in their class are doing. This will be an opportunity for you to let us know some of things you have been doing and to ask for support with the learning if you need it.
  2. We are also going to set up class emails. This way, class teachers will be able to send regular messages to their class.  It will also be an opportunity for you to upload any of your children’s work for the teachers to see.  We want to be able to celebrate all the good work that the children are doing.

Finally, I want to say please remember that this strange and difficult time will not be for ever.

Do take care and stay safe.

    Best wishes

    Ms Bretherick
